Christmas 2016: Vive la différence!

Christmas street que city300pxAs a single woman whose friends are her family, I have to admit to a sense of relief that all of the Christmas comings and goings are finally over. It’s great that most of my friends have now returned to their regular routine – which means that we can call each other up or get together on the spur of the moment again. I do love many aspects of the Christmas season, but those of us without children or close relatives nearby miss the special sense of connection and cheer that our friends bring us during other seasons of the year.

Well, no more Christmas Blues for me! ....

Today’s Woman Traveller and I have created a plan for Christmas 2016. And I think it’s a great one! THIS year I am going to celebrate a Merry Christmas surrounded by adventurous women just like me – in the winter wonderland of beautiful Quebec City!

snowflake250pxWe’ll stay in a cozy hotel right in the centre of the action, and snuggled up in our warm winter duds, we’ll walk along the narrow decorated streets of Le Vieux Québec as it shimmers in the snow, all the while learning from our local guides everything we can about Canada’s oldest and most colourful city and UNESCO World Heritage Site – its fascinating 400-year-old history, architecture and culture. You might even spot me catching a snowflake on my tongue as we are bedazzled by the old-world charm of Le Vieux Québec ! There’s a Christmas market to explore, lovely churches to visit, and we’ll even gather for a day tour to the surrounding countryside where our eyes will feast on a spectacular frozen waterfall and the tranquil landscape along the St. Lawrence River. And let’s not forget our opportunity to savour the traditional and much-renowned culinary treasures of Canada’s “belle province”! Wait until you see what the majestic Hotel Chateau Frontenac, decked out in all of its holiday finery, is going to offer us for Christmas dinner – a sumptuous six-course meal in their Grand Ballroom!

Scene300pxI know we are a long way away yet, but I’m already excited and starting to count the days til Christmas 2016!

I’d love it if you’d join me on Today’s Woman Traveller’s first Canadian Tour – “A Magical Christmas in Quebec City”. Let’s share a Joyeux Noël with new friends in Canada’s oldest city. It will be magnifique!
