May 20: Depart HOME CITY
As a full service travel agency, we are happy to assist you in arranging your flight and transfer details from your home city to join up with our tour. We suggest booking early to obtain the best flights and rates available.

May 21 : Welcome to Paris !
We will meet at our Parisian boutique hotel situated right in the heart of the Latin Quarter, just a short walk from Notre Dame Cathedral. There are lots of small unique restaurants and cafés in this area, so together we’ll choose where to have dinner to celebrate our new friendships and toast the beginning of our tour.

Overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 22: City Sightseeing

Included in our tour is a three-day pass for “L’Open Tour”, the Paris Hop-On Hop-Off bus; it will make travelling from sight to sight a breeze! While our hop-on hop-off passes are in effect, I will be inviting you (as per this itinerary) to join me in exploring one of my favourite cities. So today, how about hopping on near Notre Dame Cathedral and climbing to the top deck to get your first view of some of the icons of Paris – the Tuileries Gardens, the Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides to name a few. I suggest hopping off at Les Galleries Lafayette with its stunning interior, its grand cafeteria where we can have lunch, and its beautiful roof-top view of the city. There will still be lots of free time left in the day to hop back on the bus for more Paris highlights or to just wander where our hearts take us. We’ve also included a four-day Museum Pass, so today might be a good day to start to immerse ourselves more deeply in Paris’s rich cultural and historical past.

Dinner together and overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 23: More City Sightseeing
Today I’ll invite you to join me on a lovely walk through the garden of the Rodin Museum. We’ll then head to one of my favourite narrow Parisian streets to choose some decadent food and wine for a picnic in a nearby park where we’ll have a fabulous close-up view of the Eiffel Tower. Later we’ll go up to its second deck where we have a unique 360 degree view of Paris! It’s fun to try to spot your favourite sites – Les Invalides, Sacre Coeur, Place de la Concorde, the Arc de Triomphe etc. Maybe we’ll want to use our passes to visit another museum in the late afternoon, or maybe we’ll just feel like sipping a glass of wine as we watch Paris unfold before us.

Dinner together and overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 24:  A Museum Day

After breakfast, think about hopping on the bus and joining me at the Musée d’Orsay (an architecturally-spectacular turn of the century former Beaux-Arts train station) to take in its many galleries of Impressionist paintings. There’s a great spot under the dome where we can have lunch. Then we can just cross over the bridge to L’Orangerie where we’ll find Claude Monet’s truly unforgettable and immense Water Lily paintings. (We’ll see the “real thing” in a couple of days!) The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Do you have enough energy left to appreciate the treasures of Le Louvre, or would you rather just wander leisurely along the Seine taking in the sights and sounds along its lively banks?

Dinner together and overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 25: Versailles
Those of you who have chosen to go to the Château de Versailles will use your Museum Pass to enter the former hunting lodge built for Louis XIII (1624) which became, over the next 150 years, a sumptuous palace and then the symbol of the absolute power of the monarchy in France (until the French Revolution had its say). We can visit the King’s and Queen’s apartments, the Hall of Mirrors or even rent a bike to ride around the huge gardens.

Those of you who have opted not to visit Versailles with me can visit another museum using your pass, go on a guided Paris Walk, or check out a neighbourhood that you haven’t yet visited. I can make some suggestions if you like.

Dinner together and overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 26: Day trip to Giverny and Auvers sur Oise

Our guide Manuel will take us on a short drive north of Paris to the town of Giverny in Normandy where Monet's garden is at its Spring finest – a wild bouquet of soft pinks, purples and whites with stunning touches of orange, red and yellow. Claude Monet's beautiful house looks as though he's just stepped out for the afternoon, leaving us to linger under the wisteria on the Japanese Bridge to contemplate the beauty of his famous waterlily garden. We’ll have lunch at the nearby Restaurant Baudy where Monet and his Impressionist friends (among them Cézanne and Renoir) relaxed.

Just a short drive away is Auvers sur Oise, the tiny village where the painters Pissaro, Cézanne, Corot and Van Gogh lived and worked. Van Gogh and his brother Theo are buried here. Walking around the village, we’ll recognize some of the places that Vincent painted in his final days.

Dinner together and overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 27: Free Day and "Paris Latin" Cabaret

Today is our last day in Paris to spend as you please. You might like to join me on an historic Paris Walk in the Le Marais neighbourhood and have lunch near the beautiful Place des Vosges, the oldest square in Paris. On one of the corners is the Victor Hugo Museum where he did much of his writing. There’s great walk back to our hotel that goes through the heart of Ile St. Louis. If you want to take home a colourful scarf from Paris or some special sweets, this is the place to look!

Tonight we are stepping out to dinner and a cabaret show at "Paradis Latin". Of all the great shows in Paris, this is my favourite - a great, fun Parisian experience just around the corner from our hotel!

Overnight in Paris (Breakfast included).

May 28: Eurostar to London, England.

So, just as we are beginning to feel like real Parisiennes, we are off on a whole new adventure – London, England. The Eurostar train will zip us under the English Channel and into a very different city experience. Our hotel is in the Kensington area, right next to a tube station in a lively area with lots of small restaurants and interesting shops to explore.

After our midday arrival in London, we could have a quick lunch and then walk through the nearby beautiful Kensington Gardens right up to the immaculately-renovated royal residence where we can visit the King’s and the Queen’s State Apartments, (as well as those of Victoria who was born and raised here). The very engaging hourly tours teach us about the history of the British monarchy, and I think you’ll love the exhibit “Fashion Rules”, a collection of gowns worn by Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana. Let's walk through the “Wiggly Hedge”, past the gorgeous sunken garden to the Orangery (built in 1704 as a greenhouse for Queen Anne) and have a nice ‘cuppa’ while overlooking the estate.

Dinner together and overnight in London (Breakfast included).

May 29: City Sightseeing tour - London

This morning we will enjoy a 2-hour guided "Flash Bang Lightning Highlights Tour" with London Walks. We will see all the classic sights in Westminster and the West End, hopefully including the Changing of the Guard. Afterwards, we could have lunch in the crypt of St. Paul’s Cathedral and then pop over to the tourist office around the corner for you to pick up information on the various museums, walks, concerts and plays which might entice you during our week here. Going to the afternoon Evensong in the Cathedral would be a lovely way to wind down our first full day in London.

Some of you have special places you want to visit on your own, so we have built in several 'free days' As we did in Paris, on the free days here, I will suggest an itinerary and invite anyone to join me if they like. There is just so much to do! Museums, markets, very fancy food courts, bustling markets, the theatre and the pubs.

Dinner together and overnight in London (Breakfast included).

May 30: London

My suggestion for this morning is to go to The Tower of London which over its almost 1000-year history has served as a fortress, a royal residence, and a prison and execution site (notably for two of Henry VIII's wives). On a happier note, we'll be able to see the extraoirdinary Crown Jewels which are still regularly used by Queen Elizabeth on special ceremonial occasions.

We can then cross the Thames at the famous London Bridge and go to the covered Borough Street Market. Good luck trying to choose what to have for lunch from one of the stalls displaying tantalizing and colourful organic food from around the world! Let’s picnic in the green area next to Shakespeare’s church and then take a leisurely stroll alongside the Thames River past pubs, art galleries and the Globe Theatre.

Dinner together and overnight in London (Breakfast included).

May 31: Option to visit Highclere Castle !

Highclere Castle is the film location for "Downton Abbey" which has just completed its final season. The owners are going to continue their limited access to the public, giving us the opportunity to explore the majestic castle and its grounds. Please let us know as soon as possible if you want to join this tour as tickets go fast!

Those of you who prefer to stay in London for the day might want to start visiting some of the city’s fabulous museums – the Tate Britain, the Tate Modern, the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Churchill War Rooms. The list is endless, and most of them are free!

Dinner together and overnight in London (Breakfast included).

June 1: London

Today is another free day for us to satisfy our many curiosities about this fascinating city. We could take in the Changing of the Guard Ceremony and/or visit the exquisite food courts at Harrods or Fortnum and Mason. And you might like to join me on one of the expertly guided “London Walks”; it could be “The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour”, “The Literary London Pub Walk”, “Darkest Victoria London”, “A Soho Saunter”, or a myriad of other choices. It might also be a good day for us to check out Leicester Square for cheap theatre tickets for tonight.

Dinner together and overnight in London

June 2: Daytrip to the Cotswolds

It’s a day to breathe some fresh country air and enjoy a full-day outing to the Cotswolds, a rural area west of London which is home to hundreds of tiny honey-coloured limestone villages set amongst green rolling hills and grazing sheep. Our guide will lead us along the footpaths through the meadows to the narrow streets of villages lined with thatched-roofed houses whose gardens show off their Spring colours. You’ll want to take a photo round every corner! Our biggest decision will be whether to eat lunch at the local pub or at the tea-room.

Dinner together and overnight in London (Breakfast included)

June 3: London

Today is our last full day in London. It would be fun to go to the Notting Hill Gate area, very near our hotel. We’ll walk past the very posh row houses (remember Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts at the bookstore?). We’ll come upon the very funky and lively Portobello Road Market with its pastel-painted shops and outdoor stalls featuring off-beat vintage clothing, antiques, a flea market and great food. During lunch we can each decide how to complete our personal lists of “London Must-Sees” before we leave.

We have an option for our final meal - we could decide to dine in a nice restaurant or pub, or we could opt for a special British High Tea at The Savoy. We will overnight in London (Breakfast included).

June 4Our tour is complete.

Thanks for the company and safe travels everyone!

Along with our ability to assist you with transfer and flight arrangements we can also help with any extension plans you may have to continue your holiday

Note - We would be happy to assist you in arranging flights from your home to join us on the tour.

Frequent Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We do our best to answer all your questions before you travel with us. Please contact us if you have concerns that are not addressed here.

What is included in the cost?

Each individual tour specifies in the 'Included Features' section what is included in the tour. The cost always includes your accommodation, breakfast daily, excursions, activity instruction, local transportation, and services of your escort. Some trips also include lunches or dinners.

What are the accommodations like?

We stay in comfortable local, boutique style hotels. Accommodations are based on twin-share occupancy, (with private facilities) but single supplement is available if desired. Our Asian tours all feature deluxe hotels. Our accommodations are centrally located in the places we visit offering the convenience of personal exploration during free time.

How far in advance do I need to reserve my trip?

It is never too early to reserve your space on your trip of choice. Some of our trips book up several months or even a year in advance.  Please call us or e-mail to reserve your place as we would not want you to be disappointed.

What will the food be like?

We feature both simple, nutritious local foods and gourmet meals, depending on the destination. We always try to vary the diet so that our participants can learn about and enjoy the local cuisine. When meals are not included, we make sure that there are a number of restaurants in the immediate area of our accommodation to give our travelers the chance to enjoy searching out local restaurant experiences.

Who do I eat meals with?

You'll never dine alone. Our guides always offer the option for you and the group to join them for meals.

Can I come alone?

Most of the women who travel with us book as a single person. If you are travelling with a friend, you can of course share a room with them. It is part of our mission to provide women the opportunity to meet new friends while enjoying a wonderful travel experience.

What is the Guaranteed Share Rate?

Most women who travel with us come individually. Some want a single room, and some prefer to share a twin room. On many tours we offer a 'Guaranteed Share Rate' which means two singles will share a twin bedded room. In the case where there are not enough to share a twin room, we pay the single supplement difference for you. This Guaranteed Share Rate allows you to book with us knowing that you will be assured the lower shared twin cost.

How many people are in the group?

This depends on the tour you select. Our groups are always small, however, from 6 to 14 participants.

What is the average age of your travellers?

The average age of our travelers is between 30 – 65 years of age. We have had ladies in their mid twenties and ladies into their 70's – the love of travel and adventure has no particular age. Each group generally has a mix of ages.

Who are the guides?

Our tours are escorted by a Today's Woman Traveller staff member. Our team of ladies are all experienced tour escorts. They are well educated, speak the local language and make great traveling companions. We frequently hire local guides for specific touring or in particularly exotic locations where our escort may not speak the local language.

What type of women travel on your tours?

Our passengers are a very diverse range of women. They include single women, married women, divorcees and widows. They are women of all ages, and are often repeat customers. Our passengers come from across the country, from the USA, and some from other countries as well.

How physically fit do I need to be?

This depends on the trip you select. We accommodate women of different levels and abilities. Our walking tours are designed to suit all levels of walkers. You don't have to be in top shape, but you will enjoy it more if you are reasonably fit. Many women surprise themselves at their new-found strengths and abilities!

What kind of clothing should I pack?

We send you a complete trip dossier including a packing list when you reserve your trip with us.

How do I arrange transportation to meet up with the tour?

Today's Woman Traveller is operated by a fully licensed travel agency. We are qualified travel agents and able to assist with flight arrangements, if desired, to meet up with our tours. Our tours commence and end in, or near, transportation centres.

When a tour is cancelled by the Company before the agreed date of departure for any reason other than the fault of the Client, the Client can either:

1. take a substitute tour of equivalent or superior quality if the Company is able and willing to offer such a substitute; or
2. take a substitute tour of lower quality if the Company is able and willing to offer one and to recover from the Company the difference in price between the price of the tour originally purchased and that of the substitute tour; or
3. have a full refund of all monies paid under the contract as soon as possible. The Company is not responsible for any incidental expenses or consequential losses that the Client may have incurred as a result of the booking such as insurance premiums, visas, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or rail, non refundable car parking or other fees, loss of earnings, or loss of enjoyment, etc. If the Client is offered a refund but requests an alternative tour of a higher value than that originally booked, then the Client must pay the difference in price. Where after departure a significant element of the trip contracted for cannot be provided, the Company will make suitable alternative arrangements for the continuation of the trip. If it is not possible to provide a suitable alternative or the Client reasonably rejects any suitable alternatives, the Company will provide the Client a refund of unused tour portions. Where a significant alteration or cancellation occurs which is not due to Force Majeure or other circumstances beyond the Company's control, the Company will in some circumstances offer compensation. The price of the tours published may go up or down from the time of publication. The Company recommends that the Client finds out the most up to date price of their tours including the costs of any other service provided by the Company at the time of making their booking. The Company reserves the right to increase tour price after the holiday has been booked but will not do so any later than 30 days before the departure date stipulated. After a Confirmation Invoice has been issued any increase to the tour price will be as the result of changes in an increase in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel, dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airport charges, including any currency fluctuations. If the increase would be 2% or less of the holiday price the Company will absorb the changes in its costs of providing the tour. However if the increase is more than 2% the Company will pass this increase on to the Client.

Where the increase in price is more than 7% of the Clients holiday price then in these circumstances the Clients may either:

1. withdraw from the contract without incurring any penalty; or
2. accept the change of price.

Tours operating in Canada are priced and advertised exclusive of Government taxes (HST, GST, PST & QST) and these taxes will be advised at time of booking and itemized on subsequent invoicing.
